New Owner Benefit Levels: What Is Changing—and Why It Matters

Marriott Vacation Club’s updated Owner Benefit Levels are rolling out in stages. I am especially encouraged to see more recognition for higher owner levels and benefits that can make a vacation more enjoyable from the time you reserve until the time you check in.

Owner update · November 2026

The rollout is already in its second stage, with another stage expected next year. The biggest changes appear to affect Chairman’s Club and higher, but every level has changes worth reviewing. Here is the practical rundown I would want every owner to understand.

More flexibility at 13 months

For Marriott Vacation Club resort reservations at the 13-month mark, the announced rules allow Owner-level members to reserve five or more days and Select-level members to reserve three or more days. Previously, the longer reservation window required a full seven-night stay.

Stronger short-notice discounts

For higher levels, the points discount on reservations within 30–60 days has increased. Flexible owners who can travel on shorter notice may find this is one of the most meaningful ways to stretch their points.

On-site recognition matters

Benefits are not only about points. The announced program also emphasizes experiences at the resort, including priority treatment for upgrades and early check-in when available at the qualifying levels.

Within 60 days of travel

More points left for the next getaway

The announced discount for Presidential level and above rises with the ownership level. That can make a real difference when you find availability close to travel.

Reservation windows, discounts, eligibility, and inventory are subject to the current program terms. Always confirm the benefit shown in your Owner account before making a decision.

What I have experienced

The change can begin before you arrive

The biggest difference I have personally noticed is the on-site experience. Since receiving the official benefit information, we have stayed at two resorts and both check-ins felt much more personal. Before arrival, I received a welcome call that focused on our room preferences and the VIP check-in process—not simply a presentation invitation.

For Chairman’s Club and higher, upgrades are honored when available, with priority first to Pinnacle, then Reserve, then Chairman’s Club. The same priority order applies to a 2:00 p.m. early check-in when available.

Use the benefit chart for your own level

After you log in to the Marriott Vacation Club website, look at the top line where your name and Owner level appear. Select the displayed Owner level to open the benefit chart for your account. Review every benefit—not only the ones mentioned here—so you know what to look for as you plan and travel.

My practical advice: keep your specific benefits in mind when you are comparing a last-minute resort stay, choosing when to arrive, or deciding whether a particular trip is worth using points for.
