Make Your Deeded Week Work Harder

Step 2 · Make your deeded Week work harder

Reserve Your Deeded Week at Your Home Resort—With Maximum Value

Reserving your home resort can be straightforward: check your Seasonal Calendar, look for personal schedule conflicts, and make the reservation But if you have flexibility in when you travel, there is a smarter way to choose your dates and MAX the value of your ownership.

A note from Maxing Marriott

Planning early is still the foundation. Once you know the dates you may reserve, comparing one additional calendar can reveal which eligible week carries the greatest value.
The common mistake

Using only the Seasonal Calendar

Your Seasonal Calendar tells you which dates

1 Confirm your season

Start with your resort’s Seasonal Calendar and identify the date ranges available to your deeded Week.

2. Compare the Points Calendar

Even if you will not use Club Points to book, the Points Calendar gives you a useful value signal for the same dates.

3. Reserve early

Choose the best-fit, highest-value date you can use—then reserve as early as your ownership window allows.

Meet Stan the Man

Stan has a two-bedroom deeded Week at Marriott’s Shadow Ridge—The Villages. Every year, he looks forward to golfing with his buddies. This year he is also traveling with his family, so he needs the full villa. Stan owns in Gold Season, which gives him some limitations on when he can go—but he still wants to get the most VALUE from his ownership as possible.Stan begins the same way every Deeded Week owner should: by checking the Seasonal Calendar. It tells him the dates his Gold Week is eligible to reserve. It does not yet tell him which eligible dates are the strongest value—that comes next.

Stan’s first move: Confirm the Gold Season dates he can reserve, then compare the eligible weeks before he commits to the full family villa.
The value comparison

Now compare the same dates on the Points Calendar

It may sound backward: you are reserving a Week, not using Club Points. But this calendar makes the differences in demand—and therefore value—easy to see.

Points Calendar for Marriott’s Shadow Ridge—The Villages. Use the current chart for the year you plan to travel.

Within the Gold dates available to Stan, the points required for a two-bedroom can vary substantially. In the supplied 2027 example, eligible weeks range from 1,950 to 3,175 Club Points.
The simple insight: If two dates are equally workable for your schedule, the one requiring more Club Points to reserve is generally the higher-value Week to consider reserving.
The current points chart and program terms always control. Treat the chart shown here as a planning example, then use the actual chart for the year you will travel.

Find the sweet spot inside your season

In this example, Thanksgiving week falls within Stan’s Gold Season. A two-bedroom reservation for that period requires 3,175 Club Points. The same points value also applies to some weeks in early-to-mid November—giving Stan more than one high-value option to consider. That is the advantage of looking at both calendars. You are still reserving within your deeded season, but you are choosing with a clearer picture of demand and potential value.
Do a little happy dance: You found an obvious way to compare eligible dates before you commit your Week.

Want one more comparison?

You can also look at the cash price or Bonvoy Points shown on Marriottcom for the dates you are considering. I do not usually use that number to make the decision—but it can make celebrating a great reservation even more fun with your travel partner. For the original Shadow Ridge example, a two-bedroom stay during the week of November 15–22 was priced at $6,068. One important decision before you reserve

Should you elect Club Points instead?

If you are an enrolled Marriott owner and can elect your Week for Club Points, compare the points you would receive by electing with the points required to reserve your chosen week before you reserve it.
Reserve your Week whenThe points required to reserve it are more than the Club Points you would receive by electing. You are using your Week for a higher equivalent value.
Consider electing points whenThe reservation would require fewer points than your election value. You may be able to make the same reservation and keep remaining points for another use.
In Stan’s Shadow Ridge example, his Gold Season Week would receive 2,325 Club Points if elected. If Stan reserves a Week that requires more than 2,325 points, the Week reservation is a strong value choice. If he reserves a week requiring only 1,950 points, electing may leave 375 points available for another trip—subject to current program terms and deadlines.

This is a planning framework, not Marriott Vacation Club policy or financial advice. Confirm current eligibility, election deadlines, calendars, reservation windows, inventory, and program terms in your owner account before acting.

Understand the process. Get better results

There are many ways to MAX your Marriott ownership. Compare your eligible dates, look at the current Points Calendar, make the right election decision for your situation, and plan early. The owner who understands the process best gets the best results.
