Is an Abound Escape Actually a Deal?

A different kind of points comparison

Abound Escapes: Is the “discount” actually saving you points?

Abound Escapes are still resort stays—not an “other ways to use points” option They deserve their own comparison because the right benchmark is not cash. It is the number of Club Points the same stay would require through the regular reservation process.

Abound Escapes make select stays within 60 days available for a fixed Club Point amount based only on villa size and length of stay. The resort does not change that price. Sometimes that is an outstanding deal. Sometimes a regular short-notice benefit-level discount requires fewer points.

Two ways to book. One question to answer

Abound Escapes require a call to MVC, and exact dates are not displayed online. Before calling, compare its fixed point amount with the regular reservation amount for the exact resort, dates, villa, and your Owner Benefit Level.

Does Abound save points compared with the regular reservation?

For Abound Escapes, the ruler measures the point savings or point penalty compared with the same reservation made normally, after any short-notice discount that applies to your benefit level

Example only: 2-bedroom, 3 nights

Assume the exact regular reservation would require 900 Club Points before a benefit-level discount. The Abound Escape requirement is 540 points.

In this example, an Owner with no discount would save 360 points with Abound—an Excellent points value. A Reserve owner’s regular 45% short-notice discount would make the same stay cost 495 points, so the regular reservation would actually use 45 fewer points.

The simple process before you call MVC

1. Find the regular points first.Search the exact resort, dates, villa, and number of nights through the regular reservation path. Record the standard Club Points amount.
2. Apply your short-notice benefit.Check whether your Owner Benefit Level qualifies for a 30- or 60-day regular-reservation discount.
3. Compare it to Abound.Use the fixed Abound chart above. Reserve the option that uses fewer points for the same trip—then call MVC if Abound wins.
